How I learned the guitar

Clark and fish at Aird Island - photo, Walter Fortin
I think I was twelve years old when I picked up a guitar.

Dad, Walter Fortin -- self-portrait
My Dad played a bit and he showed me three chords, and I practiced them for a while, but it was too hard on the fingers.

I never picked it up again for a long time.

There was a girl in school that I sure wanted to get to know, but she would not give me hardly a glance. I don't remember if I started to play again to impress her, but I learned an old country song with those three chords. It was called " Irene Goodnight" -- I played it when she was walking by one day and she noticed me a bit.

My love of music maybe started there.

Music inspired by our Savior Jesus Christ

Poetry,

a message to share with others...

My life took a dramatic change one day in the basement of our house as I was playing my guitar. Some people say to write music takes research, technique, courses etc

That day as I played, the entire lyrics of a song that was like poetry came to me .

I put pen to paper and in fifteen minutes or so, I had two verses and a chorus of a Gospel message. then the music came to me as quickly a song of salvation was born. .

It was given to me, can I share it with you?

Clark
